Directional Boring

Often referred to as “trenchless technology” utilizes special machines that install underground conduit with virtually no impact to the surface area, disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Conduit size typically ranges from 1″ poly or PVC to 12″. Larger diameter boring, rock boring or sleeving projects require larger equipment and are more involved to complete. Directional Boring offers the best option for high traffic or sensitive areas without causing disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Once the crews clean up it will look like they were never there. Best utilized in residential and commercial zones.

Vibratory Plow

Plowing units utilize a large vibratory plow that can pull and feed cable and/or conduit into the earth at depths of 24″ to 48″. The size and power of these machines makes it ideal for long runs of direct bury, where it can easily plow through soil, sand, clay and rocky conditions. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads and open fields where underground utilities are not problematic.

Micro Tunneling

This advanced technology allows for the installation and placement of large metal or concrete casings to be placed as the tunnel unit is boring. The boring head pulverizes the materials and breaks it down into a slurry, where it is is pumped back to the control station and filtered out. This trenchless technology allows for incredibly long runs of steerable boring, with minimal impact or interruption to the areas surrounding the staging and operations areas. Cannon Utility Services tunneling diameters range from 12” to 48” inches in diameter.

Private Utility Locating

Cannon will coordinate the locating of private utilities and other hidden assets such as electric, water, phone, or gas lines with JULIE or Missouri ONECALL (MOCS) to ensure your job site is prepared for work to begin.

Trenching

Trenching units vary in size and utilize a boom on the back that has cutting blades designed for specific soil or rock conditions. The trench travels along churning up the earth and creating a trench. Depending on what is being buried the trencher will create a open slit in the earth about 6″-12″ inches in width and a depth ranging from 24″ to 60″ depth. The crew will then “place” the cable or pipe and back filled the trench. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads, through fields, and in new construction zones

Hydro Vacuum Excavation

Is a technology that uses water or air pressure to break up soil and debris so that it can be safely extracted by vacuum. This technology significantly reduces the risk of damage or injury while exposing buried utilities. Vacuum excavation is efficient and works very well in urban environments (by) mitigating risk of injury, damage and costly restoration.

Concrete Coring/Saw Cutting

Cannon Utility Services is often asked to go beyond underground construction and to actually breach a foundation, wall or ceiling of a structure by performing both vertical and horizontal coring. Typically the diameter of the bore ranges any where from 2″ to 10″ diameter cores. Larger concrete coring, sleeving, and cutting projects are available for quote.

Forestry

With the use of mulching mowers and/or herbicide spraying, our crews provide clearing services for utility companies by removing trees, brush and overgrowth located in Right of Ways and Utility Easements.

Concrete Flat Work

Flat surface concrete install for sidewalks, highways, city bike paths, driveways, handicap ramps, as well as site work repairs to existing cracked, damaged concrete.

Trenchless Technology

Trenchless Technology involves the installation, replacement, renovation and repair of underground utilities lines for water, sewer, cable, telephone, electric, gas, gravity sewer and storm drains. Trenchless Technology uses methods that minimize the construction impacts associated with traditional open-cut construction methods.
